Permission Granted

In response to a friend’s significant bodily decline, I consider how bodies give us movement, communication, exaltation, sorrow. They sometimes break, they can’t always be repaired, but they are always magnificent.

These self-portrait works focus on the colour, exertion, and glory that a body can bring to a performer. The work also acts as a reminder that, despite what societal norms may prevail, permission is granted to admire and enjoy our magnificent bodies for all they do for us.
